In the quest to create a conducive platform for the attainment of Inclusive Economic Growth in accordance with the tenets of Radical Economic Transformation and Back to Basics, the KZN Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (CoGTA) has embarked on an initiative to convene District Amakhosi Summits on Agrarian Revolution.

Today the said summit is taking place in the Amajuba District Municipality, in Richview Community Hall.

The main rationale of the planned Summits is to advance the commitment by the Honourable President during his State of the Nation Address (SONA), wherein the State President emphasized that: “We will accelerate our land distribution programme not only to address a grave historical injustice, but also to bring more producers into the agricultural sector and to make more land available for cultivation towards food security, rural development, poverty reduction and strengthening.”

It must be noted that Traditional leaders in the main have unreservedly accepted the Agrarian Revolution concept and have therefore pledged to make land available for agricultural purposes.
