As a contribution to the province’s vision to see Charlestown return to its former glory of being a vibrant town with job opportunities, The MEC for Arts, Culture, Sport and Recreation Mrs. Bongiwe Sithole-Moloi officially handed over the newly established state of the art Charlestown library, to the Newcastle Municipality today.
The challenges of accessing up to date information is now a thing of the past to the community of Charlestown who use to travel to nearby towns for information
This R20 million worth of facility does not only offer books and a conducive study area for over 50 people at a time but it also boasts a toy collection targeted at early childhood development and over 10 public internet access computers.
Her Keynote address, Moloi – Sithole said that Libraries have the ability to be centers of creative and academic activity which liberates the society and set it on a better course.
“ This Library is here to better the lives of the people of Charlestown, to bring employment to the area and most importantly to make sure that the community is equipped with knowledge “ added Sithole Moloi
She urged the community to go and register as Library users and to be active library users
